The man behind CTRL, Sacred Games has delved into the murky lanes of one of the largest jails of the world. The seven-episode series walks through many real-life incidents and dark stories that kept the nation awake.
“We need someone well-built.” This is what Sunil gets to hear at his interview. He fought vehemently because there was no other job available at the employment exchange. His fighting does not end there as he got dismissed on his first day. Mangat and Dahiya enter because they are from Punjab. But Sunil gets a vote from Charles Shovraj.
It is the early 1980s and Tihar Jail is someplace where the Sun does not shine. There are Haddis and Tyagis and there is Shovraj who lives on his own terms. Here JNU protestants leave under the pretense of visitors and prisoners do not get blankets.
Like the Motwane story, this series also devoids any unnecessary twists and turns and walks straight through the dark world. The gripping tale painted in grey and black shades is a powerful tale challenging morality while putting life at stake.
