Did you wander what happened to those who escaped their home, while voyaging through trails of blood- did they make it?
Three years ago, first installment of this story was one of the Korean drama that made global sensation. A bunch of apartment residents forced to live together while hiding from a heinous monster stole heart of audience immediately. The new season took off from where it left.
Hyun Su who has been transported to an army base for further experiment gets free with the help of Pyeon Sang-wook. They head to the army base anyway.
The biggest turn off this new instalment are the monsters. The AI generated creatures are not at all horrifying and also offers nothing new to watch. The new season did not pay attention to the elements that worked for the story in its predecessor.
The other survivors of the story Eun Yu and Ji Soo were taken to an army camp. A conscientious soldier comes for their rescue. A bunch of new characters with a weak background joins the plot. But it failed to offer anything worth to watch.
The chief strength of the drama was the magnificent backdrop and built up of characters. The director failed to deliver great drama within the new entrapped characters. The pressured environment seemed too prepared for the damage they are going to face. The outburst did not appear as a surprise.
We were glued by the story that pose threat to every person in there to turn into monster. The inner struggle of the person shapes the characteristics of the monster. The story gets more confusing with the meaningless banters and activities that generates less suspicion but more confusion.
The first episode was a brilliant opening. As the new episodes starts coming, the storyline goes disarray. Lack of solid narrative makes it more poor and difficult to watch. Repetitive action scenes and overstretched attempt to create epic moments makes it more meaningless.
This eight episodes billed in season 2, Sweet Home 2 is a mere pass.
