The Empress is back

The story of the Habsburg court is back with a bang.

Elizabeth is pregnant for the second time. The whole dynasty is waiting for the arrival of the heir to the throne. And Maximimilan who has been exiled was asked to return to the court and be messenger to Napoleon.

The big point of a historical fiction is the set. The set up of the Empress never fails to impress. The couch, the bed and the spread marks as eye catching. The costume of the cast are warm. The pregnancy outfit of Elizabeth adds the haggard dose in their look.

Chemistry of Philip and Devrim as Elizabeth and Franz is on spot. The leads add right dose of hotness and sweet flavour to their presence on screen. Katrin Gebb did a fabulous job once again while bringing alive the life of the complicated Empress. The scene where crowd threw their bouquet on road and refuse to greet their Emperor and Empress oozed the bleak the country was facing at the time. The interaction of Maxmilan and Elizabeth after so many years was not only heart touching for them but brought tears to audience eyes.

Its the journey of an empress. It is her love, her quest of quenching her thirst to be there for her public. Grafting that on screen not only deserves lauding but also an extra credit for the beautiful journey it is.
