Johny Rose, owner of the second-largest video rental store finds himself on the road when his business partner duped him. As the head of the Rose family, he decides to shift to a city they brought on their son David's birthday.
After losing money and reputation, the father of the Rose family takes the burn while keeping the essence of the family alive. He not only takes care of his daughter Alexis who is a desperate attention seeker and son David who is so full of himself but also his wife Moira who has been in denial since the loss.
Papa Rose is not a confident person himself anymore. While adjusting to the schmuck people of the land, he finds himself falling apart all the time. He questions himself as he sees them penniless and even counting bucks for purchasing breakfast. His family who has been adjusted to a certain life gets laughed at for their dresses or even their walking or talking style. Papa Rose breathes in the air for them.
In the beginning, Johny is found as the Ross family's most easygoing member. His affirming devotion to other members made him the ideal husband and the lovable father. His will to start afresh, and struggle with new gadgets makes him showcase as the man with exasperation. He maintains a sense of entitlement while a sense of appreciation for his new found community develops within him.
